Your First Week with Grocerly

Last updated: April 2026

Grocerly is built around a simple weekly flow: save recipes → plan your meals → shop efficiently. Here's how to complete that loop for the first time.

Step 1 — Add your first recipes

You have two options:

Import from a URL (fastest)

  1. Open the Recipes tab.
  2. Tap the + button and choose Import from URL.
  3. Paste a link from any cooking website (AllRecipes, NYT Cooking, Tasty, etc.).
  4. Grocerly fetches the recipe in the background and notifies you when it's ready.
  5. Your recipe — title, ingredients, instructions, and photo — appears in your library automatically.

Create manually

  1. Open the Recipes tab.
  2. Tap the + button and choose New Recipe.
  3. Fill in the name, ingredients (with quantities), and instructions.
  4. Add a photo from your camera roll or clipboard.
  5. Tap Save.

Step 2 — Plan your week

  1. Open the Meal Plan tab.
  2. Tap + on any day to pick a recipe from your library.
  3. Repeat for as many days as you want to plan.
  4. Drag recipes between days to rearrange.

Step 3 — Generate your grocery list

  1. In the Meal Plan tab, tap Add to Groceries (or the cart icon) for the week.
  2. Grocerly extracts every ingredient from every recipe you've planned, deduplicates them, merges quantities, and adds them to your grocery list.
  3. Smart Sort runs automatically — items are sorted by supermarket section so you can shop efficiently.

Step 4 — Shop

  1. Open the Groceries tab.
  2. Check off items as you find them in the store.
  3. When you're done, tap Clear Checked Items to clean up the list.
