Your First Week with Grocerly
Last updated: April 2026
Grocerly is built around a simple weekly flow: save recipes → plan your meals → shop efficiently. Here's how to complete that loop for the first time.
Step 1 — Add your first recipes
You have two options:
Import from a URL (fastest)
- Open the Recipes tab.
- Tap the + button and choose Import from URL.
- Paste a link from any cooking website (AllRecipes, NYT Cooking, Tasty, etc.).
- Grocerly fetches the recipe in the background and notifies you when it's ready.
- Your recipe — title, ingredients, instructions, and photo — appears in your library automatically.
Create manually
- Open the Recipes tab.
- Tap the + button and choose New Recipe.
- Fill in the name, ingredients (with quantities), and instructions.
- Add a photo from your camera roll or clipboard.
- Tap Save.
Step 2 — Plan your week
- Open the Meal Plan tab.
- Tap + on any day to pick a recipe from your library.
- Repeat for as many days as you want to plan.
- Drag recipes between days to rearrange.
Step 3 — Generate your grocery list
- In the Meal Plan tab, tap Add to Groceries (or the cart icon) for the week.
- Grocerly extracts every ingredient from every recipe you've planned, deduplicates them, merges quantities, and adds them to your grocery list.
- Smart Sort runs automatically — items are sorted by supermarket section so you can shop efficiently.
Step 4 — Shop
- Open the Groceries tab.
- Check off items as you find them in the store.
- When you're done, tap Clear Checked Items to clean up the list.
