Recipe Import Notifications
Last updated: April 2026
Why notifications are needed
Importing a recipe from a URL involves sending the link to a server, which fetches and parses the cooking website. This usually takes 5–30 seconds depending on the site. Rather than making you wait on a loading screen, Grocerly processes the import in the background and sends you a notification when it's done.
What the notification says
The notification will say something like: "Your recipe is ready!" Tapping it opens Grocerly and takes you directly to the imported recipe.
Enabling notifications
The first time you import a recipe from a URL, Grocerly will ask for permission to send notifications. Tap Allow to enable them.
If you previously denied notifications, you can re-enable them in: iPhone Settings → Grocerly → Notifications → Allow Notifications
What if I don't allow notifications?
The import still works — you just won't receive a notification when it's done. You can manually check your recipe library after a minute and the imported recipe will be there.
