Color Categories on the Grocery List

Last updated: April 2026

What color categories are

Every grocery item can be assigned a color. Items with the same color are grouped together in the list. You can use colors to represent:

  • Different stores (e.g., blue = Jumbo, orange = Albert Heijn, green = local market)
  • Different people (e.g., red = your items, blue = your partner's items)
  • Different types (e.g., yellow = pantry staples, purple = fresh produce)

Assigning a color

When adding or editing an item, tap the color swatch to pick a color for that item.

How Grocerly remembers colors

When you add ingredients from a meal plan, Grocerly checks your history. If you previously assigned a color to "chicken breast," it will restore that color automatically next time chicken breast is added.
