Smart Sort — Shopping by Aisle
Last updated: April 2026
What Smart Sort does
Smart Sort reorders the unchecked items in your grocery list by the section of the supermarket they belong to. The order follows how most stores are laid out:
- Fruits & Vegetables
- Meat & Fish
- Dairy & Eggs
- Bakery & Bread
- Pasta & Rice
- Pantry & Canned Goods
- Spices & Condiments
- Baking
- Nuts & Seeds
- Beverages
- Frozen
- Snacks
- Household & Cleaning
- Other
Within each section, items are sorted alphabetically. Items not recognized in the ingredient catalog are sorted alphabetically at the end of their section under "Other."
Smart Sort works within each color group independently, so if you have a "Jumbo" group and an "Albert Heijn" group, each gets its own sorted order.
When does Smart Sort run?
- Automatically every time you add ingredients from the meal plan.
- Manually at any time: tap the three-dot menu in the Groceries tab → Smart Sort.
Limitations
- Smart Sort only reorders unchecked items. Checked items stay where they are.
- Items added manually that aren't in the ingredient catalog will be placed in the "Other" category and sorted alphabetically.
- Pinned items always stay at the top of their color group regardless of sort order.
