Quantity Merging
Last updated: April 2026
How it works
When you add your meal plan to the grocery list, Grocerly looks at every ingredient across all planned recipes. If the same ingredient appears more than once with the same unit, the quantities are added together.
Example:
- Monday's pasta recipe: 2 cups chicken broth
- Wednesday's soup recipe: 3 cups chicken broth
- Result on your grocery list: 5 cups chicken broth
What if the units are different?
Grocerly only merges quantities when the units match. If one recipe calls for "200g chicken" and another calls for "2 chicken breasts," these will appear as two separate line items since the units can't be automatically converted.
What if the same ingredient is already on my list?
If chicken broth is already on your grocery list (unchecked), Grocerly will increase its quantity rather than adding a duplicate entry.
